• The fascist has been elected. Our systems have failed. In 2016, I thought they would protect us. Now I am sure they will not. It’s up to us to watch out for each other. I’m committing to more time with friends, more dancing, more art-making, more caretaking. To finding small revolutions in dance halls. To avoiding isolation. We’re entering dark times, but there are paths forward. Do not give into fear and exhaustion. Keep taking care of your plants, your friends, and yourself.

  • I just passed two months at Scribe and things are going well. Margot and I are settling into our new apartment, which I adore for a multitude of reasons. I have become very interested in houseplants—I’m not yet fluent in their language but I’m learning a lot from them. Next week I’m going to attend XOXO in Portland. Fortunate for travel, for stable work, for an apartment, for sunlight and cool summer nights. Lots of gratitude.

  • I’m starting my first full-time job in three years, and I’m a little nervous about the adjustment from freelance. Hoping I still can find enough time and energy for personal projects. Attending class at the School for Poetic Computation and increasingly interested in exploring the more artistic facets of building for the web. In August I’m moving in with my partner. I’m excited to make her breakfast.

I discovered https://nownownow.com/, which talks about building a /now page for sharing brief updates on how things are going right now, as if catching up with a friend for the first time in awhile. Big life picture stuff. Sounds nice. Maybe I'll make one.
